What is metabolic syndrome?
As stated on the Mayo Clinic Website: "Metabolic syndrome is a cluster of conditions that occur together, increasing your heart disease, stroke and type-2 diabetes. These conditions include increased blood pressure, high blood sugar, excess body fat around the waist, and abnormal cholesterol or triglyceride levels."
The home country of modern agriculture and the "western diet", the United States is the best example of this. The country is currently experiencing an epidemic, with over two-thirds of US adults overweight or obese, and 1 in 10 living with type-2 diabetes. Other countries such as China, who adopted diets of processed foods and a carbohydrate-based food pyramid, have all experienced alarming rates of diabetes and obesity.
Fructose & lactose are seven times more poisonous than refined sugar, or as you know them: sugar or easily digested carbohydrates. These cheap carbohydrates are the main source of "nutrition" for the majority the planet (except the last hunter/gatherers). Funny (or not), is that our body produces all the sugar (glycogen) it needs from the liver.
Anything more is toxic!
How did we get here?
The "End of Food" started after World War II, where companies turned their surplus of nitrate for bombs, into chemical fertilizer. As the industrialization of agriculture into component parts accelerated with export driven subsidies in the late 1970's, companies created something called high-fructose corn syrup.
Through economies of scale and "innovation", companies learned profit margins increase the more you process the product. Unfortunately, the more you process your food, the less nutritious and palatable it becomes. The solution? Add high fructose corn syrup (sugar), fat or salt.
During the 1990's, the U.S. sugar lobby vilified salt, meat and butter as the reason for rising heart disease. Fast forward to today and the effects can be seen in people everywhere. The fact is, we are a civilization addicted to easily digested carbohydrates, fructose, lactose, sucrose or just plain sugar.
The reasons for this are obvious & there are now a multitude of studies linking western diets to increasing insulin resistance & obesity. Over enough time this will eventually results with type-2 diabetes.
Type-2 Diabetes is said to be chronic, lifelong, and incurable. The recommendation by conventional thinking is to lose weight (eg. count calories), exercise and lose weight to help reduce your insulin resistance.

How to Lose Weight & Reverse Type-2 Diabetes?
So what is the secret to losing weight and reversing type-2 diabetes? The answer as always with your health, is what you eat. For those stuck to an office chair all day, this requires a drastic diet and lifestyle change. Remove all sugars, fructose, and lactose and then switch to a keto diet. Intermittent fasting also helps to reverse damage from metabolic syndrome. The key here, is to stay away from toxic processed foods.
